  • What is UV?

    Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation that naturally comes from the sun. The DrinkmL reproduces this energy with a wavelength typically between 260 - 280 nanometres, a suitable range to sterilize water of dangerous bacteria.

  • Why UV?

    A 180 second DrinkmL sterilization cycle attacks the genetic code of the bacteria, eliminating its ability to function and cause you harm. The sterilization is effective and destroys 99% of harmful bacteria without adding any chemicals to your water.

  • Is UV safe?

    UV water is a tried and tested chemical free and environmentally friendly method to sterilize your water of dangerous bacteria. UV does not change the taste or colour of your water.

How effective is it?

Ultraviolet (UV) is invisible light radiation with a wavelength typically between 200-300 nanometres. UV is one of the leading methods of water sterilization methods, used to destroy bacteria that cause disease in drinking water. Other common methods used for sterilization other than UV are boiling and chemical sterilization.
